Product descriptions

Product copy that earns the buy, not the bounce.

Most product descriptions hedge themselves into invisibility. We rewrite them for specificity, scannability, and the confidence to name who the product is for.

Before & after

Before

Our innovative, high-quality solution leverages cutting-edge technology to deliver an exceptional experience that empowers users to achieve their goals more efficiently and effectively than ever before.

After

A note-taking app for people who write for a living. Built around a single keyboard-driven editor, atomic linking between notes, and a local-first sync that works offline. If you've outgrown Notion's speed and Apple Notes' structure, this is the one to try.

What changed, and why

  • Removed every generic adjective ('innovative,' 'cutting-edge,' 'exceptional').
  • Named the specific audience the product is for — and implicitly, who it is not for.
  • Replaced 'leverages technology' with three concrete product properties.
  • Closed with a clear positioning against the products customers are likely comparing against.
  • Cut the length by half while increasing the information density.

When to use this rewrite

Use on every product page, app store description, marketplace listing, or feature page where the reader is deciding whether to engage further. The goal is to help the right customer recognise the product immediately and the wrong customer disqualify it just as quickly.

What to avoid

Do not over-claim. Specific honesty outperforms vague superlatives over any time horizon longer than the first purchase. 'Best-in-class' has no information; 'fastest of the four tools we tested for files over 100MB' has information you can defend.

Common questions

Will specific copy hurt SEO?

The opposite. Search engines and AI engines both favour specific, substantive copy over generic marketing language. Keyword variants matter less than topical coverage.

Should I still A/B test?

Yes. The rewrite gets you a better default; testing finds the version that converts best for your specific audience.

How long should a product description be?

As long as it takes to give the buyer the information they need to decide, and no longer. For most products that is 60–200 words above the fold.
