Intended educational uses

• Understanding why a sentence is unclear, and learning the underlying principle for next time.
• Studying alternative phrasings to develop range and tonal flexibility.
• Practising self-editing by comparing your draft to a structured rewrite.
• Learning the conventions of unfamiliar formats — cover letters, proposals, reports — by example.
• Teaching: showing students before-and-after examples that make editing principles concrete.

Use that supports learning

The tool is most useful when it makes you a better writer, not when it removes the need to write. We encourage users — especially students — to read the rewrite critically, ask why each change was made, and apply the underlying principle to the next draft themselves.

Use that does not support learning

Submitting AI-rewritten material as your own work in a course or programme that does not permit AI assistance is a matter for your institution's academic-integrity rules, not ours. See our Academic Integrity Policy for the position we ask all student users to read.

For educators
